Dr Juliana Loming is an adult psychiatrist, with a special interest in perinatal psychiatry and women's health. Alongside working in private practice at Gertrude Street Clinic (Fitzroy) and in her clinic in Newport (soon to be opened), Dr Loming holds a public consultant appointment at Mercy Health.
Dr Loming sees women in the preconception period, in pregnancy and in the postpartum period. Her work includes guidance in managing mental health during these periods, advice around medication during preconception, pregnancy and breastfeeding, adjustment to parenting, parent-infant attachment and relationship issues.
Dr Loming is a warm and compassionate practitioner who values each patient as an individual, providing a collaborative approach to their care. She is mindful of the vulnerable states in which pregnant and postnatal women can find themselves, and she uses both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology (where necessary) to assist women to optimally manage mood disturbances at these times. Dr Loming provides support with difficulties surrounding family and relationships, and assists women who have a history or current presentation of eating disorders.
Dr Loming is happy to consult patients from private maternity/antenatal wards and is accredited at Epworth Freemasons Hospital, East Melbourne and St Vincent’s private Hospital, Fitzroy.
Dr Loming completed a Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery from University of Otago, and completed her specialist medical training at The Alfred Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. She completed her final advanced training at Mercy Werribee Mother Baby Unit and Royal Melbourne Eating Disorders Unit. She was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. She also completed a Masters degree in Psychological Medicine from University of Melbourne and has commenced postgraduate training in Psychotherapy.
Dr Loming holds Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery and Masters of Psychological Medicine degrees. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
Dr Loming has held consultant public and teaching appointments at St Vincent's Hospital and Mercy Health, in areas of general adult acute and community psychiatry. She has held consultant perinatal psychiatrist appointments at Werribee Hospital's Mother Baby Unit inpatient/outpatient.
