The Perinatal Psychiatry Network is a collaboration of specialist perinatal psychiatrists who practise independently in a number of locations around Melbourne and Victoria. Our network has close links to the Antenatal & Postnatal Psychology Network in order to jointly provide the full spectrum of outpatient mental health services to birthing and non-birthing parents and couples in the pre-conception phase, pregnancy and the postpartum.

Pre-conception planning and the perinatal period can bring about questions and concerns for patients who have a previous history of mental health problems, who are currently on medication, or who are struggling with a mood disturbance or thought disturbance during pregnancy or the postnatal period.

Our perinatal psychiatrists provide specialist consultation to GPs, obstetricians, general adult psychiatrists and psychologists, when their patients require assessment and assistance during these vulnerable times.
Telehealth sessions available.
Please contact individual practitioners about Telehealth.

Prior to conception, as well as during and after each pregnancy, mental health matters as much as physical health.

Babies depend on the wellbeing of both birthing and non-birthing parents and on the health of the relationship between parents.

For single parents, good mental health and support networks are important.
